Orange Peel.

As the orange peel was stitched together with the aim of it being worn on the body, due to its ephemeral nature, the material contorted and changed colour over time. I created this with an interest in artwork using natural materials and in the performative element of wearing the piece for photographs. At the time I was reading about bodies that had been found preserved in bogland. I wanted to create a piece of work that expressed a feeling of both life and decay, relating to ideas about preservation and immortality inspired by these stories of the bog bodies.
